thoughts / news today

It sems to me as if Max Mosley's kinky party did have some degree of nazi-role-play overtones ; In any case it was private : I'm glad he's won his case .
Unlike the former Catholic Priest of Lowestoft , jailed for having spent  a generous bequest to his  church on himself , Mosley is no  preacher of morality .
'S & M' is very largely a middle / upper class pursuit , perhaps because  scummy rags like the notw like to promote the delusion that all sexual deviances are morally equivalent to  abuse of children .

Given enough money and resources it's  easy to manipulate  people : Why did something like 100,000 berliners turn out for Barack Obama's platitudinously bland short speech ?
Well okay partly because he's not warmonger bush , but all U.S presidents instigate the bombing of  foreign civilians in the name of freedom and democracy : Though we like to think that , If not when  Obama  becomes president , he'll be less destabilising  to world peace than is GWB .

Also today there's been the Glasgow East by-election , which we think that Labour will retain , even if by a narrow margin .

It was 500,000 that came out to see him...I heard the whole speech and he's a good orator...he's making most of the right noises but whether he can make the changes he's saying he wants is another matter altogether...many Presidents have come into office full of earnest desire to better their country and the world then found themselves embroiled in a war not of their own making, which ended up destroying their reputation and all their achievements were buried beneath their failure to deal with the things they inherited...Obama is going to inherit, if he makes it to the White House, not guaranteed yet by any means according to the latest polls in the USA, the Iraq war, the war in Afghanistan, all the current problems being experienced by the US economy and probably many Republican senators who will try to block any major changes he might try to make, so all the rhetoric that come before an election sounds plausible and full of good intentions but that's all it is at the moment...rhetoric and little else...and I'm glad Mosley won as well...I heard that there were people in the racing fraternity who were going after him because he had plans to introduce changes in the racing world that not everybody wanted...Stirling Moss said that he'd been very good for racing and thought that he might serve out his time then when the next election for the position comes up, he'll retire...I don't think he should let this story or the people who might have done it to him drive him out of his job...that would make both them and the rubbish News of the World win...GBHs...
