thoughts for tonight : : :

I'm sure we're all profoundly proud and excited about HRH William having been grandly ceremonised with the 'Order Of The Garter' today , ostentacious ostrich feathers and all . . .
In 1969 ,when I was about 7 or 8 , I bought a commemorative magazine about his father's investiture as Prince Of Wales at Caernarvon Castle , which might have been worth a few pounds now if I'd kept it .
A few schoolchildren , and a few royalty-obsessed women may be thrilled about today's proposterous ceremony , but I strongly suspect that most of the rest of us are by now far too jadedly cynical to give a damn about him being given that just because of who he was born as .
***************
On Victoria's 5live programme this morning they were discussing the apparently still controversial issue of mothers of babies breast-feeding them in public places , prompted by a law in force in Scotland , and possibly to become so in England banning anyone from trying to ban breast-feeding mothers from public places , though reportedly only if the baby is aged under six months . So now I suppose all babies will have to carry identity cards to denote their entitlement or otherwise to their mothers milk anywhere except privately behind closed curtains in their homes , as if this most natural , health-giving , life-affirming act is somehow something illicitly dubiously sleazy , in case a few  pruriently prudish old prunes become distressed by their ogling of a momentary glimpse of uncovered breast .
Oh come on , what f---ing year is this , 1808 ? , 1908 ?
****************
I watched ' The Departed' , about police and Irish-American gangsters in Boston , starring Jack Nicholson , Mark Wahlberg and others : Finely acted , intelligently enough plotted and tense enough to hold ones attention , though I doubt that I'll watch it again .

Agreed!
I hadn't even realised it was Will's big day!
And it's only feeding a baby!
Still think you made the right choice by not going with Cloverfield!

Thanks Ellen , I agree with your agreement with me , and I thought cloverfield was a buttery spread until I saw the dvd in tesco's the other day , which my instinct seemed to be warning me against - I'm not always right but I believe you that I was in this case !
Goodnight , xxx , - Martin .

ggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

breastfeeding is the single most normal and natural thing in the world. (apart from sex between two people who are in love) i cant believe that these morons are actually contemplating a ban in public places?!!

i fed both my children. sarah, until she was a year old. and i bloody did it when and where we both wanted.

i even did it on a bus once.

A x

As I underestand it what's the case in Scotland , and contemplatively in England is a ban on owners of cafe's , staff in library's and museums , etc . , etc . , asking a woman to leave because she's breast-feeding ; What mystified me was that over half of those 'phoning or texting in to the programme this morning were against breast-feeding in public places ;
Good for you , as you say there's few things more natural , normal and healthy , and it dismays me that even now there are people who apparently find that offensive !
Goodnight , - xx - .
