I'm back . .

by SloshedAndVexed @ 2008-06-05 - 21:28:08

One day early as a matter of fact . . .
With no lack of respect for my deceased Uncle , quite the reverse , I just did'nt feel poised enough to attend his memorial service , followed by buffet reception .
So I left my Mum to it , who'll be  entirely able to  find  her way back tomorrow .
Yesterday afternoon I sat with her for a while in Russell Square gardens , where she and my  Dad used to often go before they were married ; she'd not been back there since the 1950's : It's a bit like Norwich's chapelfield gardens except much , much nicer , and with far nicer people visiting it .
I kind of love and hate London , though that's from the perspective of nearly always being alone when there ; So many possibilities , and yet I somehow , when there , which is'nt often , always end up wandering around for an afternoon , which I like  for a while ( my  Dad walked round London a lot when he was young , so maybe it's something genetic )
- and , wherever you are , you're never far from a tube station -  then having a pub meal , wandering a bit more , then going to bed early , then by the next day I've had enough and want to come home .
The hotel , off Tottenham Court Road is very adequate though I was disappointed , last night , not to be able to get itv3 on the television , as I wanted to see trial and retribution .
And I kept getting woken up last night by people shouting in the street outside , until about 4 this morning .
I went to an ok but dull bar yesterday evening , and , it's so irritating  when pubs/bars have tv screens silently showing pop video tv , with entirely different music playing , when no one ever watches the  screens . .
I did'nt really want to go  yesterday , I nearly did'nt , then changed my mind a few minutes before we left .
Today I was exasperatingly indecisively torn between four different options : Staying in London and going to the service , staying in london and not going to the service , possibly seeing a film , or staying in London and keeping an appointment I'd impulsively made to payingly spend some time with someone - By lunchtime I'd cancelled that and committed myself to the fourth option : coming home .
Got off the train at Halesworth which I hardly know which seems a nice town , and on the bus back to Southwold went through pretty little Suffolk villages near here which I barely knew existed .
When I got home I called my cat , who kind neighbours had  looked  after , from the back door : He immediately ran to me , he did'nt seem to have been eating much today but he made up for that when I fed him .
On a tube train I wanted to , very sincerely , tell a black lady what a beautiful face she has , how I could adoringly gaze at her for hours , but I did'nt as that's very much not the 'done thing' , unless by 'loonies' . .
Sometimes , when I was a child , if my ( deceased dec. 2004 ) Father did'nt like something I was doing he'd say that it was " not the done thing " , to which I'd respond " yes it is , I do it , so it's done ! "
I've started reading a novel , Sight Unseen by Robert Goddard , who I've not read anything by before : It seems very intriguingly  promising .

Thank you dear , quite right , and lovely to be so soon back in touch . . !

Oh, sorry, Martin, didn't realise it was a funeral you were going too when I said I hoped you'd have a good time wherever it was you were going...but it does sound as if you've had time for yourself...I used to love walking around London too by myself...especially the parks...and I know exactly what you meant by seeing somebody so impressive looking that you want to tell them how beautiful they are, but, like you, I don't say anything...don't want to scare them...must admit, if you haven't seen the film Enchanted...in it the main character tells people openly how beautiful they are, and they're pleased to hear it...hmmm...haven't dared try it...HLOL...there were some good art exhibitions on which you could have gone to see...Klimt's work is on at Tate Modern...oh, well...good to have you back...great big hugs...XX

Sorry, Martin, misread the Tate's exhibits...it's Liverpool that's got Klimt...LOL...glad I didn't suggest that while you were in London...big hugs..XX

A memorial service , not a funeral , which in the end my instinct told me not to go to , so I did'nt , but anyway my Mum got back very safely , and yeah I walked around for a couple of hours , and a crowded tube train is'nt the easiest environment in which to profess profound adoration of a stranger , but I'm glad that you know what I mean , hugs , - Martin . - x - .
