It was great when it returned after so long with Christopher Ecclestone , and I thought that some of the earlier David Tennant ones were very imaginatively suspenseful too .
Then I went right off of it for a while : Increasingly ludicrous monsters , so many ideas ripped off from hollywood movies , a silly , self-regurgitating , politically-correct parody of itself .
I tried tonights episode , about a murder mystery , a thief , a giant wasp and Agatha Christie in an edwardian country house , which I was all set to report on the rubbishness of but actually it was quite entertainingly funny , and I'd have absolutely loved it when aged about 10 - 17 .
I preferred the acomplished actor Ecclestone to the lightweight preening poseur Tennant .
The whovieboppers or whatever they call themselves , the Dr . Who obsessives , some of them seemingly otherwise intelligent adults , would wildly enthuse about it even if DW was played by Keith Harris and Orville !
But it's great for older children and younger teenagers , who it's really aimed at .

Can't stand Eccleston..HLOL...gave up on that series and came back when David Tennant came into it...think he's excellent...and yes, tonight's was very good...glad you enjoyed it...it's fun, not to be taken seriously...those who love it are allowed to have their moments of pleasure...why so vitriolic about them and it? ;-/ I've seen almost every series except Eccleston's, was annoyed when he came into Heroes but glad it wasn't for long...just something about him I don't like...there's a sense of real aggro emanating from him all the time, which I find very off putting...very good actor, but just not my cup of tea at all...great big hugs...have a good rest of the evening...

I've been avoiding Doctor Who since the beginning of this new series...I think it's getting worse - how are you supposed to take it seriously with Catherine Tate? All I see is her saying "Am I boverred?"! And as for the new theme tune....
, it's all computer drums done now - I like that weird Moog instrument in the original! At least they've put more effort into Torchwood.

Yes , first one I've seen in this series and I agree with you about Catherine Tate , she's awful in it !
To my shame I've never seen Torchwood !

Torchwood much better than Dr Who! Shame but true - cos he's an national treasure.
Do try and catch it if you can. Monsters still plastic - but somehow still got credibility.
