Dr . Who

by SloshedAndVexed @ 2008-05-17 - 19:55:24

It was great when it returned after so long with Christopher Ecclestone , and I thought that some of the earlier David Tennant ones were very imaginatively suspenseful too .
Then I went right off of it for a while : Increasingly ludicrous monsters , so many ideas ripped off from hollywood movies , a silly , self-regurgitating , politically-correct parody of itself .
I tried tonights episode , about a murder mystery , a thief , a giant wasp and Agatha Christie in an edwardian country house , which I was all set to report on the rubbishness of but actually it was quite entertainingly funny , and I'd have absolutely loved it when aged about 10 - 17 .
I preferred the acomplished actor Ecclestone to the lightweight preening poseur Tennant .
The whovieboppers  or whatever they call themselves , the Dr . Who obsessives , some of them seemingly otherwise intelligent adults , would wildly enthuse about it even if DW was played by Keith Harris and Orville !
But it's great for older children and younger teenagers , who it's really aimed at .
