I bought a new mobile 'phone , a nokia 5300 xpress music on pre-pay t-mobile for £44.99 from play.com , + a £6.99 2gb card for it , and because I'm not very intelligent I've had extreme difficulties with putting music on it ; When I eventually tried it with my laptop I could do so , though I realise that I inadvertantly chose the most compressed , least optimal sound quality format , which is possibly sort of okayish , and at least the fm radio on it works well , and I'm not at the moment bothered about its camera/video function .
I do'nt know anyone so I'll rarely be using it to chat with anyone on .
I'm glad I gave away my ricoh caplio r6 camera , which I could'nt sell on ebay because I can't figure-out paypal , to my lovely non-friend .

I read today of poor old Sir Cliff Richard , 67 , having been , for several years now , suffering the indignity of having his records banned from being played on most radio stations .
In 1998 he anonymously recorded a 'rhythm and blues' track in a 'black' singing style which was well recieved and well-played on some stations until they realised who it was by .
In 2004 Tony Blackburn was suspended from his 'classic gold' breakfast show for defying a 'no sir cliff records' ban .
Okay he'll probably keep dreaming of another Christmas number 1 for as long as he lives , but Cliff Richard is a 'living legend' , with a huge 'back catalogue' going back to 1958 , and I'm sure that his 'closet-celibate-gay - ? ' clean-living lifestle has left him in far better shape than most of his popular -music contemporaries .
His 2005 single 'What Car' is in my opinion probably his best ever .
So why the radio ban ? - Could it be because he's openly Christian , most of us are not , and people resent feeling that they might be being santimoniously 'looked down on' , or 'preached at' by someone who purports to a 'christian' lifestyle ?
To be fair to Sir Cliff I do'nt think he is very 'preachy' , and why should he have to conform to any stereotypical 'sex 'n' drugs 'n' rock 'n' roll' image ?
***************
So have you , if you're in England or Wales bothered to vote ?
I did'nt ; I would have if I lived in London , and the blue-square betting odds I looked at yesterday were 2/5 Boris Johnson , 7/4 Ken Livingstone , and 100/1 Brian Paddick , which I suspect tells us who'll be installed as mayor tomorrow evening .

Sometimes I wonder if I'm afflicted with autism , aspergers , tourettes , mania , phrenia , etc . etc . , and , well it's something is'nt it .

I think I've got all of the list you've mentioned when I'm not smoking...HLOL...and, as far as Cliff Richard is concerned, I'm delighted he's banned...he's rubbish!! And he's mad too...thinks he's Jesus...not figuratively but literally...gone doolally I'm afraid...just like his best friend, Tony Blair...both barmy but at least Cliff couldn't take us into a war...just sing, which is war on the ears...HLOL...sorry, Martin...I find him just awful...
And, I'm really hoping Ken gets back in because seeing Boris prancing all over the place will probably give Londoners who didn't vote for him nightmares...as well as running it into the ground....have a restful night, sweet dreams...oh, and I sympathise over the mobile...I've got one of the simplest and it still bamboozles me, even to topping it up using it...HLOL...big hugs...XX

Oh , I think that's unfair Jenny , though I agree with you about his odd friendship with Blair , and , I do'nt go to London often , I'm sure the tories could've chosen a better candidate , and if I had a vote I'd tend to want to favour 100/1 no-hoper Paddick I think ;
So , if you do'nt mind my asking , do you still vote labour , to keep the tories out , or do you choose another option ?
Anyway thanks and with warmest nice wishes to you , ~ Martin .

No way am I being unfair to Cliff...but there we go...HLOL...and I don't think of Ken as Labour really, he just had to go back to the party to get the funding he needed for London...he's still an independent in my mind and yes, I really hope he wins again...Paddick may be a nice guy, but you're really going to come down heavily on me for this remark, but he openly gay, and I think there are sufficient numbers already in London without them having a Mayor as well...oh, huge smack hands, Jenny...I'm not anti-gay...I'm anti the batting power they've acquired in such a relatively short time of coming out of the closet while women are still struggling in many cases to get their voices heard and their talents recognized...say you're gay and you're in...a lot of us can't do that...I'm getting increasingly fed up with their capacity to swallow the art world and leave little or no room for anybody else...just jealousy, Martin, plain and simple jealousy...women waited for such a long time to even get the damned vote and when we did, we barely had a chance to establish ourselves in the world as equal to men when along came ladymen who swept us aside like so much flotsam and jetsam...very, very infuriating...LOL...great big hugs...XX

So you think you'd sell more of your artwork if you posed as a gay man ? Funnily enough I was criticised on this site the other day , by a woman , for allegedly seeming to be anti-gay , which I'm not although I suspect there is something in what you say about , in certain circles , being gay being an advantage . . .
This is anecdotal and I cannot verify it but when I lived in Norwich I heard of a gay dentist who would do very expensive cosmetic treatment on patients of his who indentified themselves as being gay - and find a way of getting that funded by the NHS !
Ken Livingstone has done lots to court the votes of various minorities including ' gay , lesbian & transgendered ' .
I read a piece in today's 'Mail about two elderly sisters who live together having lost their 32 year legal battle to be given the same rights as married couples , and , now , same-sex partners having gone through a 'civil partnership' ceremony , living together , to be exempt from inheritance tax -So whichever one of them dies first will have to sell their home to pay 40% inheritance tax .
It's by Tom Utley , and is probably on the dailymail.co.uk site .
Have a lovely weekend , hugs , - Martin .

HLOL...I might have a problem with the first bit...like a lot of issues, it's hard not to be classified as anti this or anti that if you say something about anything controversial nowadays...the powerful gay lobby is bound to come down hard on what I've said in my comments to you, but it's hard to dispute that the art world and fashion world has a large percentage of gay individuals in every aspect of those two worlds...they could argue that the same applies for all other forms of business and it may well be true, but it's still nonetheless very frustrating for women who do seem to have been back footed by this new and powerful minority...maybe this is bias on my part, and I'm willing to be corrected if wrong, but until somebody comes along and tells me that my assessment of the current state of the arts and fashion is wrong, I'll continue to hold them....have a good weekend too...should be decent weather as well
big hugs...

Thanks Jenny , and , I do'nt know , I once heard it said that the reason that fashion designers always want ultra-slim girl models to model their clothes is that they are all gay , and they want the models to look like boys . .
I entirely agree that it ought to be possible to speak out against 'the gay lobby' without being accused of being 'homophobic' , and against the 'race relations' lobby without being called racist , and the british 'islam council' without being called islamaphobic , and against the zionist lobby without being accused of being an anti-semetic nazi , but , factionalism , or tribalism is here to stay unfortunately , hope you enjoy the decent weather and avoid the rain , -x- .

I'm not a fan of Cliff Richard, because his songs to me are just boring! And that song about the millenium prayer...yawn.

I know what you mean about that , and I'm not a 'fan' , I just think it's strange and silly if it's true , as reported , that a number of radio stations refuse to ever play any of his music !
Thanks for your comment !

What do you mean gay? Cliff has said he is not gay. Do you have any proof?
| SloshedAndVexed pro 2008-05-02 @ 21:42 |
No , and I said 'celibate gay' . . .
