On Victoria Darbishire's 5live programme this morning they were talking about the very low conviction rate for men accused of rape .
One woman 'phoned in to say that the police often seem very cold , cynical and unbelieving of such accusations .
At least two policemen 'phoned in saying that in their experience most  - up to eight out of ten - of such accusations are demonstrably false .
Another said that the great majority of  women found to have maliciously made false rape allegations are not  prosecuted  , in case that leads to their not being believed if they ever are  a genuine victim .
It's an emotive word and an exceptionally nasty , deplorable  crime , as we understand the meaning of the word , though where much alcoholic intake confuses the issue  , and/or if the alleged victim changes her mind at the last second , or the morning after , then that's  obviously  more ambiguous .
I find it hard to believe that any more than about 10% at most of rape allegations are malicious or delusional .
But it does happen , and  to say that any woman going to the police alleging that a man has raped her , when investigation of that proves that he could not have done it , which has led to an entirely innocent man spending months in prison on remand labelled a 'nonce' , and his losing his reputation , and very possibly his job and/or his relationship or family too - his having been named as being charged with being a rapist in local , possibly national newspapers and his accusers identity kept anonymous  - to decide that she must have no sanctions applied to her whatever , in case she ever really is raped - in which case that hopefully could be proved in court - dismays , though does'nt surprise me .
Our governments idea , in practice if not in principle of whose human rights should be respected and whose should'nt  is  confusingly inconsistent to say the least .
Like for example  nazi-esque extremist Muslims getting away with preaching hate and murder of non-muslims , and Christians in some areas being expected to 'tone down' public displays of celebration of Christian festivals , for fear of upsetting a  small minority of extremist , non-integrationist Muslims  .

How sickening it's been to see on the news the former NHS male nurse , Colin Norris , found guilty of murdering four elderly lady hospital patients , sentencing them to horrible unnatural deaths by  deliberately injecting them with huge overdoses of Insulin , smirking as he struts along , displaying not the faintest  hint of remorse .

A piece in todays 'mail about the recently deceased Paul Raymond , who became a multi-millionairre through 'top shelf' 'men's magazines' , and topless bars , strip-clubs and buying properties in Soho , London , sanctimoniously refers to his " ill-gotten gains " .
Rubbish , he saw a gap in the market and successfully set about filling it , entirely legally .
I do'nt know how nice or otherwise he was personally , but in his business life he provided soft-core titilation which enough men wanted to make it profitable , so far as I can tell without harming or exploiting anyone , and he astutely bought properties which accumulated in market value .
We are not a Socialist country and the 'Mail is'nt a Socialist newspaper : he was a successful businessman , what's the problem .
