I would Like to sometimes be able to use this space to impart wise , profound , insightful and original thoughts . The truth is I extremely rarely if ever can .
What I will say is that earlier this morning on Victoria Darbishire's Radio5live programe she interviewed a lady who lost her six year old daughter in horrific circumstances on a family holiday at a Turkish resort .
It was a weekly 'turkish night' , with belly-dancing etc. , As was normal , though the resort / hotel were unlicensed to do so , a waiter squirted a line of  flammable liquid onto the ground and lit it to create a wall of fire in front of  people dancing to recorded dance music . Then he did it again , and a spark ignited his can of petrol or whatever it was creating an inferno ; several adults and children were badly burnt .
The lady who was on the radio earlier had left before then - there were other family members to be with her daughter - She got a 'phone call and was rushed to the hospital where her daughter was screaming in agony - She managed to calm her daughter down and told her everything was going to be alright - Her daughter said "I love you mummy , I know I'm going to die" , which she did .
I'm sorry if I've  upset anyone by repeating this desparately moving and harrowing story , it's just that it so much puts all of our so relatively petty , trivial  problems and greivances , and unfortunate unnecessary silly things perpetrated on us or even by us so much into perspective .
Nothing original about that but it is somehow profoundly humbling . As is the lady having impulsively  hugged the waiter , who obviously feels terrible about what happened , at his trial .
